RaceRunning athlete from Scotland

How is RaceRunning developing in the countries of RaceRunning?

RaceRunning.org is doing a series of portraits of the countries of RaceRunning having the national representatives answering some questions. Scotland is the first country and Peter Drysdale is answering our questions.

RaceRunning’s popularity in Sweden has been growing for a long time. Now RaceRunning is achieving official recognition as well becoming an approved sport within the athletic team.

The online registration for the second entry for the 17th International RaceRunners Camp & Cup (7th-14th July) and RaceRunners Juniors Camp (11th-14th July) is now open.

What is RaceRunning

RaceRunning is an innovative sport for disabled people with impaired balance, and is a Danish invention, the first RaceRunner was constructed in 1989. A Race Runner is a custom-built tricycle "learner bike" without pedals, which balance is not a problem. Therefore RaceRunning an obvious sports option of including people with cerebral palsy, arthritis sufferers and amputees. RaceRunning gives the disabled, who normally can only get around in electric wheelchair, manual wheelchair or warker  able to move under its own power at relatively high speed.

During the 4Th to 11Th July 2009 the 3rd CPISRA World Championship and the 13Th international RaceRunning Cup were held in Frederiksberg, Denmark.
